The Puerto Rico Seismic Network (PRSN) received information that three of six earthquakes generated in the Sombrero Seismic Zone between 10:42 AM and 12:12 PM  on October 22, 2001 were felt in eastern Puerto Rico. The magnitude of the events ranged from 4.4 to 4.8; this memo contains information on the event of largest magnitude. For the events of 11:36 AM and 12:12 PM a seismic intensity of IV was determined for Fajardo and San Juan, respectively. At the moment of generating this memo, the PRSN has recorded over 100 earthquakes in the Sombrero Seismic Zone since October 16. No damage has been reported associated with any of the events of this atypical seismic swarm.
